The Crimson Flame — In a World of Gray

The world, as far as I can see,
has sunk into gray,
and a freezing wind sweeps through.

Everyone smiles coldly.
The sincere are trampled,
labeled by the foolish.

Within the chest burns a crimson flame—
it does not fade,
cannot be extinguished,
does not know how to bow.
Quiet, yet unending in its light.

The massive shadow of vanity,
turning pride into morality,
binds people, twists hearts—
but the true ones remain free.

The crimson flame,
born within the soul,
shines brighter, grows warmer,
even as mockery storms in.

The flame does not die.
Even in the gray desert,
it lights someone’s way.

The crimson flame blazes—
truth itself is burning.

The Crimson Flame II — Crossing the Line

There is no boundary.
It may turn against you,
never simple, never straight.

The role of the boundary
is not where you think.
The body desires—
never simple, never straight.

Leap across the line,
you will find another.
Never simple, never straight.

The Crimson Flame III — The Weight of a Poem

“You should write something light,” you said.
I tried for days.
Notebook open—
first line, then the second,
and already I ran aground.

What dulled my pen
was the wish for you to know
the days of struggle I spent
just to begin.

The Crimson Flame IV — Proof of Purity

You, with a pure and untainted heart—
because of you I saw my own decay,
my thirst, my chill,
and felt ashamed to the core.

You are filled with drive,
your face radiant with warmth.
I only received, never gave.
The future was dim,
until I saw—
purity is far more powerful than I thought.

The Crimson Flame V — Struggle

There are moments I think, “Yes.”
But mechanical.
They do not last.
Struggle—
it wears me down,
until I am worn completely.

The Crimson Flame VI — The Privilege of a Moment

Why is this moment
the newest of all?
A freshness that never fades.

The universe, nature, and human life—
each existing for the other.

The heart grows drunk
on the mystery
of freedom breaking new ground.

What cannot be done
in past or future—
this moment alone
has the right to exist.

The Crimson Flame VII — Forms of Happiness

Happiness at home,
happiness at work or school,
happiness in society—
each, its own form of joy.

The Crimson Flame VIII — By the Kamo River

I let it go,
by the banks of the Kamo River,
to become dust.

In any case, I released it—
but first, I lit the candle
and burned it
with a single match.

Your empty oath,
not born of sorrow.
Even winter’s barrenness
looked beautiful that day.

The Crimson Flame IX — The Voice at Night

Past midnight—
a trembling voice over the phone.

“I’m coming.
Where are you now?”
“You’re there… I know.”

“Wait for me.
Stay there.
I’m on my way.”

I’m already running—
to the deepest part
of the forest where you are.

The Crimson Flame X — The Exit

An entrance, an exit—
surely, it’s an exit.
I believe it.
Even if the entrance
looks awkward,
it leads to light.

The Crimson Flame XI — The Meaning of Pain

There are those
who never feel pain,
and later still—
they feel nothing at all.

It’s all right if you don’t understand.
I only wish
to taste my pain,
and know it’s mine.

Thoughts Behind the Poem

Even in an age drowned in gray,
a crimson flame dwells deep within the human heart.
This series is a record of that flame,
drawn in eleven forms—
sincerity, boundary, purity, struggle, moment, happiness,
prayer, love, and renewal.

What runs through every poem
is the heart that keeps truth burning.
That is the very core of The Crimson Flame.
