京都から

千年の都にて思うこと

人間がつくった法で
裁けなくとも
そう　きっと
厳しき因果の法則によって
裁かれるのでしょう
千年の流れがそこはかとなくささやく

他者の幸せを喜べるか
他者の幸せを祈っているか
他者の幸福に尽くしているか

一生涯
自分に生きていく
わけなのだから
一生涯
自分を信じ切って
生きることに尽きる

教条主義の沼にはまることのないように
冷笑主義の霧に巻き込まれないように
私は私を見失ってはならない
千年の清き風が北山から吹く

一番最後でいい
自分の幸せは
他者の幸せを優先する人は
実に
真の都人だと思う

From Kyoto — Reflections in the Ancient Capital

Though man’s laws
may not judge everything,
surely,
by the stern law of cause and effect,
justice will prevail—
so the thousand-year flow whispers softly.

Can we rejoice
in another’s happiness?
Do we pray
for another’s peace?
Do we live
to bring joy to others?

A lifetime—
we live only within ourselves,
yet all we can do
is to believe,
to live through that belief
to the very end.

Let me not be trapped
in the swamp of dogma,
nor lost
in the fog of cynicism.
I must not lose sight
of who I am.
A pure wind of a thousand years
blows down from Kitayama.

It is fine to be the last.
Those who place
another’s happiness
before their own
are, indeed,
the true citizens of the ancient capital.

この詩に込めた思い

京都という、千年という永い時を刻む都に立ち、
人間の営みを見つめる中で浮かび上がるのは、
「因果」の厳粛な真理、そして法則。
この詩は、他者を裁くことよりも自分を律し、
他者の幸福を支える勇者でありたいという、
自分自身における深い祈りと強い決意を込めた詩。
同時に、この詩は「思想詩」でも「哲学詩」でもなく、
“京都という記憶そのもの”を「断片」として書き留めた詩である。
倫理を離れ、詩の根源的な姿へと戻った——
まさに「千年の沈黙を語る詩」として挑戦した。

しかして、 「自分の幸せは一番最後でいい」——そうありたいと。

Thoughts Behind the Poem

Standing in Kyoto,
the ancient capital that has marked a thousand years of time,
what rises quietly as I gaze upon the flow of human life
is the solemn truth — the law of cause and effect.

This poem carries within it
a deep prayer and a strong resolve within myself:
to discipline my own heart rather than judge another,
and to live as one who supports the happiness of others.

At the same time,
this is neither a poem of ideology nor of philosophy.
It is a “fragment” —
a trace of Kyoto’s own memory, written in silence.
Beyond ethics, it returns to the origin of poetry itself —
a challenge to speak of “a thousand years of quiet.”

And yet,
“My own happiness can come last.”
That is how I wish to live.
